Summer Reading Programs Rock!

Summer Reading Programs Rock!

Summer is quickly approaching. How do you plan to spend your time? Check out what these students from North Little Rock High School, in North Little Rock, AR, have to say about reading books.

At night, nothing beats a good mystery. Have you ever read The 39 Clues series? It’s filled with adventure and mystery. My son just finished the first book and he loved it! (I’ve read the first 10 books.)

If you don’t like reading books, then find something you DO like reading. Try comic books, graphic novels, manuals, or trade magazines. Just read. And, if you don’t understand a word, look it up in a dictionary. Adults have to do that sometimes, too, when we can’t figure out what something means, within the context of what we’re reading.

Cool tip: Keep track of the words you look up. Then, when school starts again, you can tell your teacher how many new words you learned during the summer. Your teacher will be impressed.

Check out your local library to find out what’s happening this summer!
